In the Greek myth, Proserpine eats the pomegranate given to her by Pluto, which definitively seals her destiny as a woman and Queen of the underworld.
There is a parallel with the myth of Eve eating the apple.
In the Bible, Eve tempted by the Serpent (the Devil) eats the pomegranate, the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and bad and thus loses immortality, and must leave paradise. In the Bible it is said that Eve eats the fruit that is called “pomum” in Latin and which has been translated by “apple”. In fact several sources speak of pomegranate, whose Latin name is malum granatum, hence the pun between malum the fruit and malum the evil. Moreover, the apple is called malus communis, hence the confusion.
Proserpine lived in symbiosis with her mother Ceres. Pluto came to rapt her and to permanently cut out the symbiotic bond with her mother, maked her eat the pomegranate. Indeed who eats the pomegranate must remain in the underworld.
Eve lived in the Eden and eating pomegranate, led her to the separation from this Eden.
In both cases, Eve and Proserpine lived in a state of heavenly symbiosis and a desire (eating the fruit) separates them from Eden.
In the case of the myth of Proserpine, this primordial separation, followed by her marriage to Pluto, represents the acquisition of new sovereignty and the establishment of a balance between the world of appearance (the surface of the earth, the conscious) and the Chthonian world (the underworld, the unconscious).
As Proserpine becomes Queen, she acquires a maturity. As she lives half under the earth and half on the surface of the earth, she reigns over cycles, which refers to the impermanent nature of things, death is part of life, birth inevitably leads to death.
To eat the pomegranate is to accept to leave the paradise of childhood to enter the adult world, with the awareness of good and bad, work, marriage, sexuality, child birth for women and parenthood.
There is the immature consciousness of the child which depends for his survival on the protection of his parents and the mature consciousness of the adult who is sovereign over his life.
Dependence and sovereignty are inversely proportional and represent both aspects of the myth of Proserpine and the Garden of Eden.
In Astrology Proserpine represents the transition from childhood to maturity, the dependence to sovereignty, the state of helpless victim to personal power.
Proserpine is the astrological name we gave to Haumea (a nano-planet of very similar characteristics to Pluto), which was discovered in 2004 and that we recently reintegrated it into the astrological pantheon (published in the journal L’Astrologue, No. 199 and 200, 2017).
The emergence of the astrological Proserpine and the current global pandemic is a co-incidence (in the etymological sense).
The global crisis of the Covid brings out and highlights the collective complex of Proserpine, the unconscious identification to the victim dependent on the savior and welfare State, and individually confronts us with the need for maturation and re-ownership of our sovereignty and our individual and collective responsibility.
This sovereignty is declined on the collective (homeland), physical (health), emotional (family), mental (values) and spiritual (religion and sacred) levels.
To honor Proserpine is to reinvest the meaning of sovereignty and this mutation begins individually.

Such is the analysis that could be made on this sextile Uranus second decan of Taurus to Hades second decan of Cancer which will take place from August 2020 to February 2023.
(The Uranus Taurus/Hades Cancer sextile will take place on the following dates: 3. 05. 2019 – 17. 10. 2019, 19. 02. 2020 – 11. 05. 2022 and 25. 10. 2022 – 27. 02. 2023. Uranus will remain in the second decan of Taurus on the following dates: 13. 07. 2020 – 14. 09. 2020; 1. 05. 2021 – 21. 05. 2023; 15. 12. 2023 – 8. 03. 2024 and Hades will be in the second decan of Cancer from August 2020 until 2030).
In this article some elements are unusual:
- Hades which is part of the eight fictitious points of Uranian astrology and that in our practice we find however very active both in genethliac and Mondial.

Hades Cancer
Hades represents the ability to disengage when a situation becomes obsolete and re-engage in a new direction. It’s a bardo, they say, in Tibetan Buddhism or intermediate state. There is therefore in Hades a symbolism of death, transformation and rebirth. In Taoist Bagua this corresponds to the trigram the Mountain and winter. Wilhelm Pelikan tells us in his famous yellow book on the I Ch’ing: “The Ken trigram, the immobilization, whose image is the mountain, contains a mysterious meaning. Here, in the tranquility of a deep retreat, the end of all things is intimately linked in the seed to a new beginning. Death and life, death and resurrection are the thoughts that are awakened by the transition from the old year to the new. Thus the cycle is closed”.
Cancer represents tradition, habits, roots. Hades in Cancer means a need for a change in the traditions, need of a metanoia. Hades entered Cancer in 2010 and transited in the first decan until July 2020. This decan is assigned to hexagram 6 Conflict, Disagreement, Contestation. However, it must be said that this period began with the Arab Spring in 2011, then ended in 2019, the year of all the world’s protests and then with the Covid epidemic.
Hades in Uranian astrology represents everything that marks the end of an era. So there is decadence, decay, ruin. The Covid epidemic is one of the revealing agents that brings to light the corruption of our Western economic and political system.
Hades in the second decanate of Cancer from August 2020 until 2030: hexagram 51, the initial shaking, the awakening. A sudden energy comes into play. It can lead to success. But it also brings with it certain dangers: excitement, frenzy, violence, tactical errors.
Hades in this decan means that a profound transformation of society is under way, and that this transformation is now taking more direct paths. Everyone can prepare themselves individually because while this vigorous energy can lead to success, the rush can take over and make people take risks. As an individual, you must therefore avoid being carried away by the excitement on the one hand, but also avoid being blind, passive or insouciant because of your fear on the other.
Uranus Taurus
Uranus represents the collapse of a dogmatic position and also divergent thinking. Uranus is still the liberation of the primary clan spirit and the advent of individuation, differentiation and empowerment. In Taurus this can mean an upheaval in the global economy, an awareness that the current economic model based on resource exploitation and the utopia of infinite growth does not respect natural laws, and is therefore not a viable model in the long run.
Uranus 1st decanate of Taurus (May 2018 to July 2020). Hexagram 22, arrange, organize, shaping, appearance. The erratic and sudden Uranian energy is at odds with the energy of the decan which is rather the organization of forms, appearances. This can therefore mean a reversal of appearances, shapes and a need to go beyond appearances, beyond the outer form.
Uranus 2nd decanate of Taurus 2 (July 2020 to May 2023). Hexagram 14 , power, possession, radiation, anything that shines or shines, gold, knowledge, panache, heroism. Evil is overshadowed by light, things come to light. Period of stability. Uranus in this decanate : things are brought to light in a sudden and erratic way.
Uranus 2nd decanate Taurus sextile Hades 2nd decanate Cancer could mean
“A powerful and direct force brings things to light and a transformation takes place in the foundations of society”.
(sextile which takes place from August 2020 to February 2023).
We can cite among other things the following events, all of which are unprecedented (knowing that in astrology the impacts sometimes begin to operate several weeks before their exact appearance because of the phenomenon of orbs):
- 22 May 2020: The largest operation of its kind in Europe against an organised crime group (thousands of wiretaps, hundreds of arrests).
- June 4, 2020: “The Lancet” announces the withdrawal of its study on hydroxychloroquine, revelation of one of the biggest health and scientific scandals.
- July 2, 2020: Ghislaine Maxwell is arrested with perhaps many compromising videos of public figures.
It appears that the personalities who present a Lion ascendant in their natal chart and therefore a Mc in Taurus, currently have Uranus in transit that approach their natal Mc which tends to highlight them (like Didier Raoult, Donald Trump) and these people embodying the collective energy themselves highlight what is hidden, this is typical of Didier Raoult who single-timelyly highlighted on a global level the collusion of medical experts with laboratories and Donald Trump who is revealing what he continues daily to accuse his predecessor Barack Obama of the “most serious political crime in American history”.
And we’re probably just early on.
In this Christmas time I want to share you some researches I did on the dwarf planet Makemake because I found it could be linked to mysticism.
My initial thinking was that in ancient time astrologers use 7 visible planets and since the discovery of new planets (uranus, neptune, pluto) it comes to 10. But 10 looks quite odd for me, because it has no symbolic support at all. The ancients have two rulers by sign (diurnal and nocturnal) and now we keep only one (with no regard if the one we keep is diurnal or nocturnal), because of the arrival of the new ones. But by the way 2 signs are now orphans isn’t ? Could we test certain dwarfs as ruler of Taurus and Virgo ? Eugene Caslant a very famous French astrologer before the discovery of Pluto, already spoke of Pluto, and a transplutonian he named Proserpine.
Since Pluto has been downgraded into a dwarf planet by the IAU my questions was the following :
Why can’t we use the other dwarf planets as well : Ceres, Haumea, Makemake and Eris ? What are the pros and cons ? personally I found a few cons and a lot of pros. Good for a searcher.
I took a series of 1340 cases of religious people in adb and found for Makemake this Gauquelin repartition with a peak in the first plus zone near Ascendant. interesting ? No other planet comes up in Gauquelin sectors including Neptune.
No evidence in Fast Research for houses and signs positions (Placidus), but strong evidences appears for midpoints and aspects (for example Makemake conjunct Sun ).

We proposed to use Haumea as the first transplutonian planet in astrology and to rename it Proserpine as proposed by our predecessors (Eugene Caslant, Dane Rudyard). These authors had placed Proserpine as ruler of Taurus, our research adds that she is the diurnal ruler of Taurus and nocturnal ruler of Libra. The exaltation is in Gemini.
The key words are: woman, life, desire, evolution, development, growth, multiplication, lineage, organization, cohesion, form, phallus, pregnancy, possession, materiality, conservation, sensuality.
The Uranus/Proserpine cycle shows a striking parallel with the timeline of feminism and its 4 waves.
- Uranus: liberation, emancipation
- Proserpine: woman
- Uranus/Proserpine – woman’s liberation
We can only do a very brief overview here.
The conjunction of 1835 corresponds to the birth of feminism (the first wave), the opposition of 1905 to the global emergence of feminist organizations and the emergence of feminist activism (see picture below).
The conjunction of 1962 with the birth of the 2nd wave of feminism, with for example FDA approval of the contraceptive pill among others.
The 1987 square corresponds to the birth of the 3rd feminist wave with the emphasis placed on diversity within groups and the uniqueness of each woman, in particular by a better visibility occupied by women considered to be doubly marginalized or stigmatized — women of color, Aboriginal, lesbian, prostitutes, transgender, or even fat, to name but a few.
The opposition Uranus 21 Aries and Proserpine 21 of Libra from 2016 to 2018 correspond to the beginning of the 4th wave of feminism and all the campaigns to denounce sexual abuse and harassment as well as against femicide.

The rulership of Aquarius by Uranus is not universally accepted and the reasons that led to this position are questionable. Modern astrologers have forsaken the tradition of double domicile for each planet (daytime and nocturnal, see attached image) to keep only the diurnal domicile. The diurnal domicile of the traditional planets outside luminaires are: Mercury-Gemini, Venus-Libra, Mars-Aries, Jupiter-Sagittarius and Saturn-Aquarius. With the arrival of Uranus, Saturn was dislodged from his diurnal domicile by Uranus, to be demoted to his nocturnal domicile Capricorn. But for what strange reasons did Neptune and Pluto not dislodge Mars and Jupiter who kept their diurnal domicile?
Maybe there was some semblance of logic. Keeping, as shown in the 
attached figure, the Ptolemaic succession Mercury/Venus/Mars/Jupiter/Saturn, Uranus would come to place in Aquarius and Neptune in Pisces. But then another problem arises for what strange reasons Pluto does not find itself in Aries? We start with a logic (the Ptolemaic order) but we do not push the logic to the end and we place Pluto in the Scorpion.
I have already proposed another way of proceeding (cf. articles published in the Astrologer, Nos. 199 and 200). It is about keeping day and night rulerships for every planet including the new planets. Thus Uranus, Neptune and Pluto must have a diurnal and nocturnal domicile. Traditional planets have to keep their traditional domiciles, because there are no good reasons to change them. Saturn must therefore remain in its diurnal domicile in Aquarius and nocturnal in Capricorn. The only possible logic, the one that respects both the traditional domicile and the Ptolemaic succession, is to attribute to Uranus the diurnal domicile of Capricorn and nocturnal of Aquarius, to Neptune the diurnal domicile of Pisces and nocturnal of the Sagittarius and Pluto the diurnal domicile of the Scorpion and nocturnal of the Aries. 
As a demonstration, we will take the theme of Rudolf Bing who have Ascendant, Sun and Moon in Capricorn and of Joris Huysmans who have Ascendant, Sun and Moon in Aquarius. Rudolf Bing is typically Uranian and Joris Huysmans typically Saturnian.
Rudolf Bing (1902-1997)- Ascendant, Sun and Moon -the legendary opera director remained more than twenty years at the head of the Metropolitan Opera of New York, creating for lyric representations new qualitative standards that will be generalized around the world and make this scene one of the obligatory passages for all the great singers.
Joris Huysmans (1848-1907),- Ascendant, Sun and Moon in Aquarius, writer, after having retired to several monasteries, he left Paris in 1899 to settle permanently in the small village of Ligugé, Near Poitiers in the Vienne, where he was built a mansion near the Benedictine abbey Saint-Martin. There he shares the daily life of the monks and prepares to become an oblate. After publishing a hagiography devoted to the mystical Christian Holy Lydwine of Schiedam (1901), Huysmans recounts his experience of monastic life in the Oblate (1903).
Of course this is not evidence, but I have investigated all the cases I have found presenting this configuration in the Astrodatabank database which includes about 50 000 cases. 7 cases for ASC/moon/Sun in Capricorn and 6 cases for ASC/moon/Sun Aquarius and for these cases all the dominant Capricorn are typical Uranian and all the dominant Aquarius are typical Saturnian.
The astrological texts written in the Mediterranean region (Thrasyllus and Manilius) between the 1st century BCE and the 7th century, refer fluently to a scheme associating each of the seven classical planets with one of the Twelve Astrological “houses”. The house with which each planet was associated was called the place of joy of the planet. In the new 12-planet system integrating Proserpine and Bacchus, our research work has made it possible to determine the houses in which the slow planets are in joy.
Uranus is in joy in X, Neptune in VIII, Pluto in IV, Proserpine in II and Bacchus in VII. It is interesting to note that the meaning of the house is very close to that of the planet. To just take a few examples Venus/House 5 search for pleasures, Mars/house 6 inner fights, Proserpine/house 2 inner prosperity, Neptune/house 8 transcendence of matter, …
You can see that the planets under the horizon are those called nocturnal, and above the horizon diurnal. Those with a B, are those called beneficial, those with a M malefic, in Hellenistic astrology. Thus a planet can be diurnal/beneficial or diurnal/malefic, nocturnal/beneficial or nocturnal/malefic. So for example, Sun is benefic and diurnal, Pluto is benefic and nocturnal.
This classification is very important to determine the benefic and malefic significant in a natal theme. Indeed if the individual theme is diurnal (birth at day) or nocturnal (birth at night) the benefics and the malefics will have a different action.
Another interesting point the malefics are in the sectors that are in aversion to the Ascendant (in dark on the picture : 2, 12, 8, 6).
The house system in astrology divides the diel cycle into 12 areas of about 2 hours each. At a moment T, House 1 corresponds to the sign of the tropical zodiac that rises on the eastern horizon, house 10 to the sign at the zenith (above the head), House 7 to the sign that sets in the West, and House 4 is at Nadir (under the feet).
I always asked myself the question but why while the cycle of the sun is going clockwise (represented on a circle: East, South, west, north) astrological houses are numbered counter-clockwise?
It must be understood first of all that this time cycle corresponds to the rotation of the Earth on itself and determines the daily day/night cycle. The system of astrological houses moves with the rotation of the Earth, while the zodiac not. From the viewpoint of the Observer (geocentric) we have the impression that it is the zodiac that moves clockwise, in reality it is the earth with the the houses that turn counter-clockwise.

The apparent primary movement of the planets and the zodiac in the geocentric system is thus in the course of a day in the clockwise direction when in reality it is the earth that turns counter-clockwise. To take a concrete example, a sun in Aries may be at the Ascendant or in the Midheaven depending on the time but will always remain in Aries.
The planets on the other hand move in anti-clockwise direction on the zodiac throughout the year, and this corresponds to the rotation of the earth around the sun.

There are therefore two movements (apparent from the viewpoint of the observer) on the zodiac, diel in a clockwise and yearly in a counter-clockwise direction.
The question of the counter-clockwise numbering of the houses is therefore very relevant. I do not have the answer, but I have some answers.
First of all I think the Ancients have numbered the houses not from the apparent, but from the real motion. This is probably a first explanation.
However this does not explain why from a symbolic point of view, is house 12 the first that the zodiac crosses after sunrise when it is supposed to represent hardships and isolation?
I have found a logical way to explain the traditional meaning of houses and to give a beginning of meaning.
In the Buddhist mandala, the east corresponds to the Vajra family, the South Ratna, the West Padma and the North Karma.
Vajra: Anger/clarity
Ratna: Pride/equanimity
Padma: Desire/discrimination
Karma: Envy/action
One can follow this logic dividing the houses into four sectors
Vajra: 2/1/12
Ratna: 11/10/9
Padma: 8/7/6
Karma: 5/4/3
The Vajra sector corresponds to the identity, Ratna to the social status, Padma to the dual relationship and Karma to the relationship within the clan (family, society).
The first house of the sector in a clockwise direction corresponds to the principle of pleasure (the Id), the third to the principle of death (the superego) and the second to self-consciousness.
So we can say that:
The 2/9/8/5 houses correspond to the principle of pleasure.
The houses 12/9/6/3 to the principle of death.
The houses 1/10/7/4 to the principle of reality.
The House 1 is our identity, the House 2 desires and needs of satisfaction, the House 12 the control that one exerts on ones impulses, but also what one must learn to let go in this life. The hardships are well the suffering of the loss of the attachment represented by the House 2.
House 10 is the need for status, representation in the social hierarchy. The House 9 the desire for recognition and exchange (friends), the House 9 the ideals and values that allow us to let go of self-centeredness and by extension religion.
House 7 is our way of entering into a dual relationship (spouse, partner). The House 8 The pleasure we take within a dual relationship (sexuality in a couple) and the House 6 the way in which we put to service in a relationship, to excess is submission.
House 4 is the way we exist within the clan. The House 5 the pleasure we take from the family (by extension children, creations), and House 3 the place where we learn to share our territory within the clan (siblings).
Anne of Brittany, who has the peculiarity of having been twice Queen of France, had two husbands (Charles VIII and then Louis XII) 8 children including 5 male children and a daughter who died shortly after their births. Only survived two girls.
Most commonly accepted birth, on 25 01 1477, Nantes, at 05h45. We use whole sign house system (according to Greek astrology).
Anne of Brittany was a very fertile woman (Taurus intercepted in house 5), Taurus being a fertile sign.
However, the daytime Ruler of House V, Proserpine is in Scorpion in exile testifying hardship with children. The nocturnal RulerVenus is in Sagittarius in house XII confirming the notion of hardship with the children.
House VIII contains The first part of the children (ASC + Saturn – Jupiter at night birth) and helps to refine the problem related to children.
The children’s Lot in VIII tells us about the death of the children,
- Conjonctio with Saturn who is in exile in Lion: Saturn swallowed his children at birth.
- Square with Proserpine, Ruler of the V, in exile in Scorpio: Demeter to avenge the abduction of Proserpine by Pluto had slaughtered on the Earth a whole series of woes.
- Square at the house V itself.
- Opposed to the Sun exile in Aquarius; The Lot of children being in Lion, his master is the Sun this opposition takes on great value.
We see that, although this woman was very fertile, none of her male children survived and thus could not give a dolphin to France.
Without the knowledge of the Lot of the children (ref.: Bonatti on Lots, translated by Benjamin dikes), the astrological prognosis would have been poor.
Anne of Brittany’s stolen and found reliquary prompted me to look at her type in the Enneagram, her natal theme and his story.
Here is the calculation of its planetary forces according to our algorithm:
We see that Pluto and therefore type 8 comes in the lead.
It is only to read his biography to realize his strength of character, she who succeeded his father the Duke of Brittany Francis II, when she was only 12 years.
Here’s what a historian says:

According to our constitutional approach, Napoleon I is classified in type 8. We see that the analysis of his natal chart with the new algorithm of the planetary dominant that we are developing shows a clear predominance of Pluto, the planet associated with type 8.
A simple look at its theme shows us that all the signifiers associated with Pluto are very strong:
Pluto is associated with Scorpio (daytime ruler), Aries (Night ruler), Lion (exaltation), House X (Joy).
